Step Four

Remove Nails



If you decided to remove the trim as shown in the last step, now is a good time to remove the nails.  Remember, only remove the nails from the trim, not from the inner rail that we just removed.  Leaving the nails in the rail will help you reinstall it a lot quicker and easier.




  • If You Removed the Window Trim - Pull out the Old Nails. Use a nail nipper to pull out the nails in the trim as shown in the video.  If there are any nails left in the wall, pull those out too. You’ll need a nail nipper tool for this.


  • If you have window pocket doors that you are using, you can skip this step.
